My Friday 13th

I'm posting this to myself, as I don't think I have any readers....

I'm trying to join the FB Nation by posting the silly and the non-news and the profane.

Today was okay enough.  I shopped for groceries in two different stores.  Sunflower had California corn 6 ears for a dollar; the green grocer guy couldn't arrange them fast enough as greedy fans of fresh corn snatched them up like saving children from drowning.  I got two buck's worth and processed them by poaching them first, then distributing them into the fridge and freezer as on-the-cob and cut from the cob.  I always go for the first crop of corn in the grocery stores because it is very good and the price is about as tasty.

I also bought myself an early birthday present in the form of ordering new grates and gas caps for my new Hotpoint stove that came with gray
ones which are insanely difficult to keep clean, so buying new black ones made perfect sense but was a bit costly for someone trying to live
on very little income.

Okay, I'll end this and water my tomato plants before dark.

Writer's Block: A real eye opener

Which one book should everyone read, and why?

WAIT, WHAT?  I was sure the question I responded to read something like "...What one movie did you watch many times as a kid and cannot abide now", something like that, so I have no idea how my response ended up on a question regarding reading.  Oh well....

Writer's Block: Not again

Which one book should everyone read, and why?

This question is apparently aimed at modern times, as when I was a child, movies were only in the theaters and I was rarely taken to one.  I'm having trouble thinking of a single movie I've seen more than once....yeah, I'm an old coot for sure, and have never been a "movie buff".  Come to think of it, why did I answer this Writer's Block?  Oh yeah, I thought I'd better post something before LJ booted my page for lack of happen.

Writer's Block: Internet Influence

Is the Internet rewiring our brains? How so?

The internet is NOT rewiring our brains, we are simply wiring the internet to follow the same logic as our brains.  I think....

Writer's Block: Two Truths and a Lie

Post two truths and a lie about yourself as an answer to Writer's Block. Have people guess which is the lie in the comments.

1.  I kissed one of my high school students..  2.  I once lost my contact lenses on a country western dance floor.  3.  As a kid, I ran away from home and got all the way to Chicago before I was located.

Writer's Block: No place like home

Post two truths and a lie about yourself as an answer to Writer's Block. Have people guess which is the lie in the comments.

First of all, I love New Mexico's blue sky and awesome clouds, I love the unique cuisine here (red and/or green chili), I love the general laid-backness and architecture of the place, I love the entire State and the variations one finds in ever sector, I love the ARTS to be discovered in NM.

What I hate:  I hate that people dis the place with trash, it blows my mind that anyone would see the world as their personal trash can.  I hate all the crime which seems to have gotten worse and worse over time.  I try to not be a hater, so that's about it.

Art (Painting)

I am an artist living in the SW.  I was once quite famous but then I went underground to do my own thing.  It might be interesting to exchange art-career issues with others who have matured and find themselves perhaps disenfranchised by the commercial art scene yet creating excellent artworks because they must.  Or to just exchange art ideas and processes.  I am primarily a painter in acrylics., but am also a published poet and performance poet.   This is my first entry, so I am unsure how to post photos of my work yet, but  I'll learn and share down the road.  Let's be creative!
